Abstract
Silver (Ag) nanoparticulate thin films were deposited over Polyethylene terephthalate (PET) sheets at different deposition time by DC sputtering method. XRD patterns confirm the deposition of Ag over the PET surface. Cauliflower like morphology of Ag nanostructures was observed from the SEM images. Ag nanoparticles deposited over transparent PET surface shows higher transmittance when compared with Ag nanoparticles deposited over opaque PET. Transmittance of the Ag deposited over transparent PET is found to be 40% at wavelength of 320nm and transmittance of Ag deposited over opaque PET is found to be low. The size distributions of the Ag nanoparticles are found to be in the range of 5 to 30 nm by AFM analysis. Ag deposited over transparent PET can be utilized for further growth of WO3 for electrochromic application.
